Bravura is unique – a highly original and entertaining musical experience.
It features some of New Zealand’s leading performers including improvisation guitar ace Nigel Gavin (he
worked with Robert Fripp) and the assistant concertmaster of Auckland Philharmonic, the thrilling violinist Miranda Adams.
Bravura’s repertoire is created by composer/pianist and bandleader Jonathan Besser. Formerly from New York, he has composed for orchestras, chamber groups, theatre, dance and film.
The group has been together for 11 years, and toured throughout New Zealand, and to Australia, and have performed at all the major festivals.
Their music is a blend of western classical and contemporary improvised sound explorations, Klezmer and world music approaches.
